About the Artist

I grew up in South Carolina and North Carolina and have traveled from New York to Florida, Texas and California. I love Western North Carolina where I now live with it's mountains, streams and waterfalls. My home and studio are on a ridge surrounded by hundreds of acres of forest in an area known as " the Land of the Waterfalls". I call it paradise with chiggers. Yes there is wildlife and bears. I studied art at community colleges, Maryland Institute of Art in Baltimore, and graduated from Western Carolina University at Cullowhee with a BFA and Summa Cum Laude honors. Recent workshops with Richard Christian Nelson and Sarah Sneeden helped me get out of the rut of painting all local color and every detail. I am pushing my art in new directions, getting control of 'greens' and using a wider range of colors in my work for which I would like to thank artists Richard Schmid and Brad Teare.
